Kawana Football Club (FC) recently underwent a significant transformation as they held their Annual General Meeting. The club’s board saw some new faces stepping into leadership roles, and it marked a turning point in their journey. One of the key changes was the departure of Adam Shelly, who had been at the helm as the club’s president for almost four years.
Taking the helm as the newly elected president is our very own Todd Forrest, a long time Sunshine Coast resident with a deep connection to the club’s history. Todd’s involvement with the club can be traced all the way back to its inception in 1979 when it was formed following the disbandment of the Henzell Park Rangers Club. During that time, he lived just a stone’s throw away from the club’s inaugural location in Buddina. The club’s journey has been intricately woven into the fabric of his life, and it’s this enduring passion that fuels his drive to guide the club into the future.
Todd’s involvement with the club is nothing short of extraordinary. He has played at all levels for the Bananas and even coached multiple teams. For the past two years, he has also been part of the board as the Vice President and Sponsorship Manager.
What sets Todd apart is his unwavering commitment to the club and his deep understanding of its pivotal role within the local community. He is determined to contribute to the club’s development by working on securing a new home for the club within the Kawana area, capitalizing on the club’s strategic location within a transport corridor.
Moreover, Todd is enthusiastic about collaborating with the committee and coaching volunteers to foster the growth of female football within the club. He firmly believes that within five years, the club will see as many females participating in football as males at the junior level.
